Teaching
People learn in different ways!
The courses I teach for the Master of Educational Technology, Faculty of Education, UBC, are held on the UBC Point Grey (Vancouver) campus, which sits on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the xÊ·mÉ™θkÊ·É™y̓əm (Musqueam) First Nation.

ETEC 512 Applications of Learning Theories to the Analysis of Instructional Settings (Co-author the major revision with Dr. Jennifer Shapka)
I always strive to make my teaching scholarly by basing it upon practice from notable literature on teaching and learning. I am particularly interested in the topic of feedback, assessment, and instructional strategies for facilitating and fostering student learning through discussion forums. Some of the questions I strive to find answers for are: what sort of instructor feedback tends to be more effective; how to ensure that the feedback is actually incorporated into students’ later work; what the effects of self- and peer assessment are on learning; and how to help students personalize their learning experiences.

Teaching Evaluations
Here are student evaluation data samples.
UBC has implemented a new system for collecting student evaluations of teaching data (student evaluation of teaching, SEoT), and has taken this opportunity to change the metrics reported. I was excited to see this new report format as well as a new system. I would like to thank you to the students who completed the teaching evaluation survey.
